Hoagie Summit. President Obama visited Taylor Gourmet on 14 Street NW on Wednesday. According to Washington City Paper, “Obama ordered a 12-inch Spruce Street sandwich, with roasted turkey, prosciutto, roasted red peppers, and provolone.” Undisclosed to the public: whether it was on wheat or white bread. Simple, it’s going to be about everything.

Societal topics, pop culture phenoms, liberals, conservatives, independents, moderates, purple people eaters, and causes that are near and dear to our hearts. I have brought on one of my best friends who is a bleeding heart, vegetarian, Hilary campaigning liberal to spice up the perspective.

Here’s a sneak of the range of topics we are going to cover: welfare, DUIs, babies being born and not being born, George Washington, gang wars and border wars (both the tv shows and policy), Jesus, taxes, drag queens, Iraq, Beltway Brain and most importantly we are going to cover what conservative means in today’s society and how we should manage that brand.

We’re going to cover it all folks. I am most certainly excited and so is Ron Swanson. If you don’t watch Parks and Rec, you should and I’ve recently become obsessed with GIFs so please bear with.

If you have 5 minutes you should definitely watch this video “Reagan Vs. Obama - Social Economics 101”, it is a great demonstration of socialism in an every day, relatable situation.

Where has the Sauce been?

Excellent question. The short of it is, I got fed up with politics. I did not want to hear about, I did not want to talk about it, and I most certainly did not want to write about it. I had reached my limit. I was disgusted with the legislation being proposed. I was disgusted with the nature of debates. I was disgusted with the media. I was disgusted with the politicians (Dem and Rep). And most shockingly, I was disgusted with the people of this country - the language we speak about these political figures and how we think calling someone an “idiot” is a valid argument. Yes, we all get worked up and I will not deny that I too have thrown out the term “idiot”, “asshole”, “prick”, “moron”, and many combinations of the previously mentioned keywords but I refuse to in an official capacity and in a situation where I am trying to prove my point. Now, I want to be clear, do I get angry at people getting angry? ABSOLUTELY NOT. It’s a wonderful thing that people are expressing themselves and their outrage however, when it is done through the channel of ReaganSauce, I feel it is my duty to portray my anger in a respectful and somewhat researched manner. But when it came to writing for the Sauce, I found myself and my writers using or wanting to use those keywords and many others when discussing hot topics. This, in my opinion is the opposite of being an effective communicator. So I just stopped. I didn’t talk politics with my friends, family, or even acknowledged the discussion of politics around me. I completely stopped. Well, I guess the appropriate term is paused. This pause helped me think about where I want the Sauce to go and how I want my messages perceived. Angry, Irrational, and Annoyed are not in my word cloud, but thought provoking and insightful are. Don’t worry there will be no loss of sarcasm or humor on the Sauce wagon and yes when I am angry and annoyed about a hot topic, you will know about it but not in a manner that reduces the level of respect for myself and most importantly my opinion.

I understand this promise has been made before, but this time folks ReaganSauce is back and it’s back for good.

May 1st, 2012 ReaganSauce relaunches.
